What being local actually changes

Most of our work now runs remotely, and it runs well. But for a Pune venue, three things are genuinely different, and they are worth knowing about rather than guessing at.

You can hold the materials. Material decisions are the ones clients most often regret, and they are almost impossible to make from a screen. The difference between a 300 gsm laminated card and a 300 micron synthetic one is entirely in the hand. Come in, hold both, and the decision takes thirty seconds instead of three emails.

Delivery, not courier. Printed menus leaving our facility for an address in Pune or PCMC are delivered rather than shipped. They arrive flat, in one piece, and on a day you know about. Interstate orders are packed for courier, which is fine but adds handling and time.

We can see the room. Lighting decides whether a matte or gloss laminate is correct, and table size decides what format fits. For a local venue we can look, rather than ask you to describe it.

Mr Dessert in Kothrud is a live local project — a rigid-board dessert and shake menu built as a pavement display rather than a handheld card, because in that category the decision is made before the customer comes in.

Our studio is in Pune, and the printing and finishing happen in the same building as the design. That is the reason we can hold a specification across reprints rather than hoping an outside printer matches last year's batch.
