Why venues choose leather

The honest reason is not durability, though they are durable. It is that a leather cover is the cheapest way to make a menu feel expensive before a single word is read. Weight and surface do that work instantly, and they do it every time the card is handed over.

The practical reason is economics. A bound booklet menu is a single object — change one price and you reprint the whole thing. A leather cover with screw-post or ring binding separates the expensive part from the disposable part. The cover is bought once. The inners cost very little and get reprinted as often as you need.

For a venue that adjusts prices even twice a year, that split usually pays for the cover within the first two reprints.

How we build them

• Cover — PU or genuine leather, in the colour and grain you choose
• Branding — foil block or blind deboss of your logo, both of which suit leather better than printed ink
• Binding — screw post for a flat, formal look; rings where pages are swapped often
• Inners — printed on coated or synthetic stock depending on handling
• Corners — reinforced where the menu is handed across a bar

When not to use leather

Outdoor and poolside seating, where damp gets into the cover. Fast counters, where the weight slows service down. And any venue changing its entire menu seasonally rather than just its prices, where the page count itself changes and a fixed cover stops helping.
